On Tuesday 5th October 2010, three hundred global business leaders, policy makers, academics and media will converge for The Future Starts Here: The Cambridge Phenomenon 50th Anniversary Conference at The Wellcome Trust Centre, Hinxton, Cambridge.

The conference will examine the success of the Cambridge Phenomenon through the eyes of those who made it happen, explore the role which the cluster will continue to play in technological innovation in the future and assess the role for Cambridge in applying the new convergence between IT and Bioscience.

In a unique opportunity to hear some of Cambridge’s finest business minds tackle these key issues, you can expect inspirational presentations, frank discussion and challenging debate on a wide range of topics including IT, Biosciences, Funding and The Future. Presentations will also be punctuated by one-minute pitches by the CEOs of hot young companies competing to be the ‘Cambridge Phenomenon’s most exciting company of the future’.

The distinguished line up of speakers and panelists includes some of the leading lights of the cluster such as Mike Lynch, CEO of Autonomy, the enterprise software giant with a $6bn market capitalisation and 3,000 employees worldwide. Other speakers include Warren East, CEO of ARM Holdings, Will Hutton, Executive Vice Chair of The Work Foundation and Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, Chief Executive of the Research Council.

Commenting on the event, Charles Cotton, co-founder of The Cambridge Phenomenon, today said:

“Our aim with The Cambridge Phenomenon is simple: to provide a platform to build on the successes of the last 50 years. We want to inspire people and give them the tools and connections to act. Our hope is that technologies such as Bioscience and IT can secure Cambridge's future as a globally renowned centre for innovation and technology and strengthen the connections for another 50 years of fantastic growth in this region."
